about

KIERRA NGUYEN is a Brooklyn-based dance & visual artist from Seattle, WA. She completed a double major in Dance and Studio Art from Oberlin College in 2020. Kierra’s work explores the visual frame as a liminal space through improvisational scores, sculpture, printmaking, and photography.

Kierra Nguyen’s ongoing duet-in-progress with Emily Young explores dance as portraiture and how their performing bodies abstract and confront notions of female legibility. This duet has been presented at Movement Research’s Open Performance, Triskelion’s Stage Dive, PAGEANT, Women in Motion NYC, and has been supported by their 2024 Space Grant from Motive Brooklyn.

Kierra’s improvisational performances have been shown at Seattle Center with The Seattle Project, SHOW 4 performance & party by CO—, Malacarne’s GATTO NERO, and as a part of her Flight Deck Residency at Open Flight Studio.  She has had the privilege of performing in works by Amy O’Neal, CommonForm Dance Project, Gil Kerer, Kate Wallich, LanDforms Dance, Pat Graney, Petra Zanki, and Alysia Ramos & Nathan Trice, amongst others.

Alongside her movement practice, you can find Kierra working for Janet Fish Foundation, Donna Uchizono, and Kimberly Bartosik/daela.
